Sustainable Ottawa is incorporated as a non-profit cooperative, that is, a cooperative without share capital. The organization and operation of Sustainable Ottawa is in accordance with the Ontario Co-Operative Corporations Act (the Act). Details on the operation of Sustainable Ottawa will be included in the Co-Op’s By-Laws that are currently being drafted by the Directors and will comply with the Act.

Sustainable Ottawa operates under the seven Co-Operative principles:

3) Member economic participation
4) Autonomy and independence
5) Education, Training and Information
6) Co-Operation among Co-Operatives
7) Concern for Community
