How To Go Solar... Hot Water

To get the biggest bang for your buck, it is important that you understand how solar water heating technology works. There are benefits and limitations to every technology - solar is no different. Please take the time to educate yourself and ask as many questions as you need to. Solar H2Ottawa involves a very strong educational component and we want to ensure that you are aware of all aspects before investing in solar technology.

There are many ways to get educated; one is through Solar H2Ottawa educational seminars. A listing of free seminars and workshops is available on this website. The information in the seminars is publically available and developed from materials and information partially attributable to Go Solar Ontario, as well as specific installers and solar manufacturers.

The internet can provide you with a mountain of valuable (and useless) information. It allows us all to search for complaints, problems and other issues as well as general info on the technology. You may find that many people are disappointed with a system because they did not fully understand how they worked or operated, or they were not properly installed.

The Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) has developed a certification process as a way to insure that SDHW installations are done by professional and trained installers. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has funded the development of this certification. Only eligible systems that have been installed by CanSIA certified installers and been recommended by the manufacturer are eligible for the Solar H2Ottawa incentive.

Remember - when you aren't sure about something... Ask!
